University Park is residential area named for its most prominent feature: Southern Methodist University. The area started as a small cluster of homes surrounding the college around 1915 and the university supplied utility service for the homes until the population grew to be too large for the school to support. A series of attempts were made to have the area annexed into Highland Park and Dallas without any luck so the small city of 24,000 residents and 4.7 square miles managed to become self-sustaining with Dallas surrounding three sides and Highland Park to the south. University Park Dallas offers residents the peace of a small town with close proximity to Dallas and other flourishing neighborhoods.
Our historically-rich city is home to many great points of interest such as George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, George W. Bush Presidential Center, Meadows Museum, Lakeside Park, and Museum of Biblical Art. The restaurants are spectacular and the shopping opportunities are never-ending. If you have a family, our neighborhood is part of the Highland Park ISD. The school system is one of the highest rated schools in the area and offer an equal balance of academic and athletic opportunities.
